Chinese Scholarships Boosted to 600 Year Under CPEC

China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) got tremendous success in the recent past and this project is bringing more success and improvement in the economy of Pakistan and also enhances the ties with neighboring country, China.
The project of CPEC helped Pakistan in different fields from road construction to provide the airport equipment and from the building up of the Gwadar port and establishment of navy taskforce. China has also extended its cooperation in the education sector as indicated by the Pakistan’s Attache to China, about the education sector. He spoke about the education sector cooperation of China with Pakistan and said that the number of scholarships to the Pakistani students has been increased to 600 a year, which is provided by the Chinese government.

He further added that previously 200 scholarships were provided to the Pakistani students, which are now raised to 400 scholarships and these scholarships are awarded by the universities. He also indicated the number of Pakistani students, who are getting education in China and there are total 15652 students, who are getting education in various Chinese universities and out of these students, there are 18% students, who are funded by the Chinese government. He also said that about 1000 Pakistani students, who are being facilitated in China on other scholarship programs of the universities.

The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Sun Weidong said that he learnt about the Pakistani students in Chinese students, who belong to different parts of Pakistan and not only from the big cities or the capital cities only. The CPEC scholarship program has opened the gate for the huge number of Pakistani students to get higher education from Chinese universities.

The Pakistani students are enrolled in the Chinese universities on the scholarship and self finance basis and they are getting education in following disciplines:

• Broadcasting Communication.
• Business Administration.
• Finance.
• Chemistry.
• Architecture.
• Biology.
• International Law.
• Journalism.
• Civil Engineering.

The Pakistani attaché further added that the Pakistani students are getting education at the graduate, post graduate and PhD programs levels and also in other advanced training programs.
