Alot of Students Submit Recheck Applications to Lahore Board
Following the high failure rate in the Class 9 exams, the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has been inundated with thousands of online applications from students requesting rechecks. The situation arose after the board officially released the results, revealing that a staggering 150,000 candidates failed the exams.
Among the various subjects, the History of Pakistan paper recorded the highest failure rate, with only 12.5 percent of students passing. In contrast, the pass rate for Islamic History was 45 percent, while General Math saw 58 percent of students passing. The pass rate for General Science was slightly higher at 60 percent. Chemistry and Mathematics fared better, with 62 percent and 63 percent of students passing, respectively.
In other subjects, Civics had a pass rate of 66 percent, while Physics saw 69 percent of students succeed. These statistics highlight the challenges faced by students in various subjects, leading to a surge in recheck applications.
Students who wish to apply for rechecking have until August 24 to submit their applications online. The rechecking fee is now set at Rs. 1400, which must be deposited in the bank before uploading the application online. The Lahore Board will notify candidates through SMS about the rechecking process.
The exams this year saw the participation of 287,000 candidates, with 127,000 students passing. According to Zahid Mian, the Lahore Board’s Controller of Examinations, 159,000 students did not clear the exams, reflecting a challenging year for many candidates.
